Star Shaped Festival is hitting the road this summer to bring six of the best Britpop bands to a city near you. After receiving such an overwhelming reaction to our inaugural sold-out festival in 2016, we’re taking it one step further, and launch a series of shows in 2017 including one at the O2 Institute Birmingham!
The confirmed Star Shaped Festival line-up includes the incredible Sleeper, fronted by Louise Wener, who will be reuniting for their first live shows in 19 years. Indie-rock legends The Bluetones, who had thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 UK charting albums, Liverpool four-piece SPACE the Band Official who had two Top 5 albums & seven Top 20 singles and power-pop trio, Dodgy whose hit-laden back catalogue includes the anthemic ‘Staying Out For The Summer’ and ‘Good Enough’. The line-up is completed by My Life Story and Salad Undressed making Star Shaped Festival an unmissable celebration of the Britpop genre.
We’ll also have Brian Cannon’s Microdot exhibition at the Star Shaped Festival. Microdot were an absolutely integral part of the movement and making things look how they did in the 90s. Aside from designing the iconic Oasis logo(!), Microdot designed and shot iconic sleeves for Suede, The Verve, Ash, Super Furry Animals, SFA, Cast Band, and many more.
The festival has already generated a stir with BBC 6 Music, NME and Radio X and scene icons such as Jo Whiley and Lauren Laverne excitedly discussing the line up on air. If you remember a time when the charts were filled with great bands and the highlight of your month was the latest edition of Select and Vox magazines, then there is only one place to be this Summer!
